Good morning.

I am in my second year of university and from the beginning of my degree I have been receiving both the tuition loan and maintenance loan as an EU migrant worker. I have been living in the UK for a little bit more than 3 years now, and I was granted settled status because of my parents that have been living here for 9 years. I was granted settled status in 2019. I did a foundation year in my university in 2018 and the first year started in 2019. I was wondering if I could change from migrant worker to home student in my third year.

Thank you, Carlos.

Hi Carlos,

From what I have understood:

2018/19 - you received EU or Migrant Worker funding
2019/20 - you received "" ""
2020/21 - you received "" ""
21/22 - you want to apply as a home student.

As you have settled status, you can switch from EU/MW to being a home student as long as you had 3 years residency in the UK before your course started.
Thanks, Isaac

Thank you for your response.

Yes this is correct.
3 years of residency in the UK before the foundation year? Or before the third year of my course (Next academic year)?.

Thanks, Carlos.

The foundation year, the very first start of your course.
Thanks, Isaac
