Is being allergic to ants a thing?

I used to play with ants when I was younger and hold them in my hands but I remember my chin becoming really red and terribly itchy. 2 nurses came in and told me not to play with them anymore. No clue how they found out tho. Is this a thing?

A lot of ants secrete various chemicals that are quite irritable, this is to deter them from being eaten, also they bite . So yeah it's completely plausible.
Yes, adults telling kids to leave ants/bees/wasps/jellyfish alone is a normal thing.

Ah I see. I remember tho that my red swelled chin lasted around a year. It took along time for it to heal.
