Buy some of these? Or do they just keep the boots in shape not stretch them? I googled 'boot stretcher' and it found some like that but wooden (I think) for £100!

yea my mum has a pair of shoe stretchers as mentioned above

alternatively, wear them in. when your just sitting watching TV or on the computer put them on and they'll stretch out if they dont fit then try stuffing them with things first :3
do those shoe stretcher things work? i dont know if they'll stretch much cos i can only just get them on over bare legs so i dont think ill ever be able to zip them up over skinny jeans
My wellies are quite flexible!

Joking aside, it does depend onwhat they're made of as to how well shoe stretchers work and by how much you want to stretch them, they might make them more comfy but might not increase by a shoe size.
If they're leather then you should be able to stretch them fairly easily...

hmm well i work in a shoe shop, and these women came in at the weekend and bought some boots, and one got the size down cause she said they would "go baggy anyway" so dunno maybe, hopefully! :smile:x

yeah they are leather. they're from clarks so fairly good quality
In that case, there shouldn't be a problem. Even wearing them ought to stretch them out...
well iv got them on right now but it took me a good 5mins just to do the zip up and im not even wearing tights! im just gonna wear them tonight and keep flexing my calves lol.
Sounds like a plan!
I stuff my shoes that are too tight with potatoes!! works like a treat and isn't expensive

From the sounds of it it's the calf rather than the feet part of the boots you want stretching.
You can try wearing them until the leather stretches, if it's thin leather it may work, the only problem is you're putting a strain on the zip.
The other option is to have them widened at an independent shoe repair shop. This is done by replacing the zip with a 'wider' one, giving you more leg room. This can be a little expensive tho, from about £20 - £25 per pair.
Good luck stretching them!

oh i prob should have been a little clearer, ur right, it is the calf of the boots that are too tight. they have stretched a little, i managed to get them over skinny jeans today but im worried that thezip will break cosit's so diff to zip themup. it'sso expensive to get them widened tho - i only paid£20 for them!

Ok, so the zip alteration is out of range. There's two options; you can buy a leather stretch spray such as http://www.theshoelace.co.uk/acatalog/Leather_Care.html#a4023, you can get a version of this at Clarks, Timpsons, most cobblers. Spray that on and wear them unless you have something solid the shape of your leg you can fill the boot with.

Alternately and much cheaper, spray the leather inside and out with warm water from a plant sprayer (or similar), not too much, just enough to get the boot slightly damp, then wear them. This should expand the leather just enough to avoid any zip damage.

I hope this has been of use, I'm always happy to help anytime with shoe/boot queries
^thanks so much!they've def stretched a little already but that leather stretch spray sounds good. ill let u know whether it works..

I can vouch for rubbing alcohol , if you buy some its called Isopropyl Alcohol , I got mine from ebay mix it with water in 3 parts water 1 part alcohol mix and spray it all over the leather . Mine were beautiful fine expensive calf skin red leather knee high boots and this worked a treat . I just put them on after i had sprayed them and gently pull the zip up stretching the leather bit by bit as I went , if it dried out i reapplied and got the zips up eventually and just wore them round the house for a while. Worth a try but it seems to work , I saw a video online with a cobbler describing the same process but with a calf stretcher in his workshop.
Get a freezer bag or two and fill it with water, put them into the boot and put the boots in the freezer for 12 hours. Worked like a dream on mine
