From jan 2003 ocr pure2 paper

the function g is defined by

g(x) = {2x-1}+4, x<0

Find an expression for g^1(x).

I wouudl assume modulus and that he means [2x-1] and either forgot or pressed shift be accident

|2x-1| for modulus surely! (use the key next to 'z')

y=|2x-1|+4
y-4=|2x-1|
2x-1=+-(y-4)
Since x<0,
2x-1=-(y-4)=-y+4
Make x subject of the formula
--> x=(-y+5)/2
--> g`(x)=(-x+5)/2 for x<0
