If the individual were deceased, it'd be (in my case) either Friedrich Nietzsche (the son of a Lutherian pastor, and an unparalleled contributor to Existentialist Nihilism), Albert Einstein or Marie Curie (the ubiquitous scientists). If the individual were alive, it'd likely be Leonard Susskind (the phenomenal mind responsible for formulating the ER=EPR paradox and the holographic principle) or Amartya Sen (India's most commemorated Nobel Laureate in the Economic Sciences). In either case, selecting solely one is hopeless.
