btec grading

can anyone help me with this baso i got one p in my units all the rest are merits and distincions how will this affect my overall grade for the first year ? and also how can i get a better chamce of getting dmm

For my first year of BTEC they added all the credit together from all the units and gave the overall grade. But last year I got a few passes but most of my units I got distinction and few merits. But my overall grade was a DMM
