Some people *cough* me *cough* find comfort in a site like this because it is easier to make friends through relation in subjects and common interests, whereas in real life, people not only judge you for your looks, but also your personality and the way you carry yourself. Maybe this way is just easier and people enjoy making friends here

Where are you getting called names? Please report those posts

Or if its offline irl easiest just not to tell people you use online forums (unfortunately people like to judge other peoples hobbies).
I come here to procrastinate and socialise
aside from uni and a few other friends bc of lockdown there is not many other ways to socialise
