Epic/Sphinx/Examity job applications

If ever you're asked to do a Sphinx test as part of a tech job application, through something called Examity, run a mile. It's not worth the stress, rudeness and frustration you'll experience as a result of doing it.

If that's anything like what the job is, I'm better off not doing it!

I got to the end of a graduate scheme process, like five different things I had to do INCLUDING the usual assessments like numeracy and comprehension... then the LAST part of the process was... a Sphinx test? AND proctored? No thanks!

I wonder if it's the same... NHS? I did it, but was so irritated and unsettled by the woman watching I scarcely concentrated. Then coding, which I already can't do, upped my stress ante.Genuinely unpleasant experience. Put me right off!

Yep, Data Analyst. The job sounded amazing, but i knew I'd throw the assessment, and they were like 'only the top tier of the people who pass the exam can pass the Epic training' so I just didn't bother.

Aye, that's what worries me too. If the Epic stuff involved is like all that...Looks like I'll be filling in that Police/Masters'/"something not in any way computers" application sooner than I thought!

Is coding / programming essential - even if you are applying for a non-technical IT job? thanks.

Hi, Is the programming section a must in the Sphinx test - even if you are applying for a non-technical IT role? Thanks

Hi I have completed and passed the Sphinx, scoring high enough to make it through to interview. While I did not get the role. I feel the programming/technical section crucial for telling aptitude for not only the hiring team but also for the candidate as it shows the level you are expected to work to. Most of the configurational analyst roles you are expected to build clinical systems using the basic system and this means having technical and communication ability. I think its good as a candidate to see your stress levels from this to see if it is a role you want to complete. I hope this helps.

the Epic sphinx test is a lawsuit waiting to happen. There is no way that Epic can show a longitudinal study that justifies the content of the test and it is unlikely that they would be able to provide content validity either. Someone in a protected class should start a class action suit again the company.
