I (temporarily) surrendered my phone because it was distracting - so Snapchat, YouTube, etc, and now here I am.
TSR is the student version of Instagram, minus the posts, likes, and those minor differences.

I feel like the drawbacks of having a phone heavily outweigh its benefits, especially students - you can easily get caught up in drama that has nothing do with you (not speaking from personal experience, some may infer) - there's a good chance you'll be on a social media platform for hours, just scrolling and chatting, when really, you are procrastinating, so there's my opinion. I'd love to see what people think

Maybe, but thankfully at least on TSR I'm not subjected to an endless stream of pictures with meaningless quotes on them or people attention seeking with their personal photos (that one thread not included). Just wish TSR had instant messaging tbh.

true, but other users don't know who you are & what you look like, like IG does.

at least ppl like ROTL94 see my POV
hmmm the instant messaging (or direct messaging)
do you think this will bring more benefit to TSR, or will it eventually have the opposite effect (ppl taking advantage, spammers...)

Forums have had that since before Facebook existed.

i could see how useful this is, like you can literally talk to someone directly, DM and expect a reply within seconds, but i can't help but think that it would eventually be a negative thing
am i just being pessimistic?

he may have meant the direct messaging, as in literally hit enter, and the other person hits enter, and you can have a full convo that takes seconds rather than 'email' 'wait' ,'send' and that process
