Hi.
If I study a taught master's program with thesis. Do I need to do a master by research program before studying for a PhD? (I ask this because most master programs in Europe are two years but in the UK they are only 1 year, and I wanted to know whether that will give me a disadvantage for pursing my studies or not)

Hi - I don't know officially - but I did a Taught Masters in the UK, and it should be good enough to get in to do a PhD. But one has to have a high mark (like a 2:1) to getting accepted onto a PhD, I think. What subject?

Thank you very much
Are you studying a PhD? I have received admission from Lancaster and Surrey for data science. Also applied data science and statistics from Exeter. Any thoughts which would be better? (Surrey and Exeter have one year work placement if it gives me a better resume for a PhD, however Lancaster's computer science department is higher ranked in the tables)
