Hi, thank you for offering your help. Do you have any advice regarding the r+r form and the interviews at Sunderland

the r&r form is pretty straightforward in the sense that it tells you what to write about in each section- just make sure you’ve done plenty of online work experience, have examples of teamwork etc to talk about. for the interview i would say to make sure you can talk about the things you’ve done that should you’d make a good doctor as that’s a common thing they look for across all medical schools. i found the interview team at sunderland the nicest of the four medical schools i interviewed at, they were super kind and seemed genuinely interested in what i was saying

hi guys, i’m about to start first year at sunderland so thought i’d put myself on here in case anyone has any questions about admissions, first year (as it happens happens) etc! obviously i can’t answer specifics about interviews re: questions asked but just thought this might be helpful to someone

Hi thanks for your help, was wondering what the area was like. Have seen some poor reviews regarding the town just wondering if they were justified. (I'm from London so I assume it'll be very different from what I'm used to lol)

Sunderland is actually not as bad as it’s made out to be- the city centre is quite nice and the campus is really nice too, plus newcastle is nearby. Sunderland had the beach which is also lovely (especially if you’re coming from london!)

Hi guys, I have 2530 UCAT score and SJT Band 1. I have reasonably good experience to go into the R+R form. Do you think my UCAT score will be ok to get an interview.

Sunderland do not use UCAT except as a minimum requirement

Thanks you. I believe their minimum requirement is to be in top 8 decile, so I am hoping 2530 should be ok?

Anyone applying with an undergrduate already and completing Gamsat ?

Hey! That’s a shame about last year - I thought I recognised your username from last cycle. Your stats are amazing. I remember getting my r+r form about this time/Oct last year via email? I think they use that instead of your personal statement (don’t quote me on that though)! Wishing you all the best!

GCSE’s (06/2011):
Biology A
Chemistry A*
English A
Mathematics A
3 more GCSE at A and 2 at B (Geography, Physics)
GCSE short-course ICT A* (not sure what short course is)

A-levels (06/2013):
Biology C
Chemistry - A
Economics A*
EPQ E

(06/2014) In 2014 I took a gap year, did some work experience, and took a resit in my biology as-well as well as take on AS level (not full a-level) business studies, achieving an A in both (06/2014)

Following this, I went to university:
Date of registration; 22/Sep/2014
End of registration; 23/Sep/2019
Qualification Awarded; MPHARM Pharmacy Second Class Honours (Upper Division)
Date of Award; 01/Oct/2019

After degree, I started pre-registration trainee Pharmacist, 30th Sept 2019 27th Sept 2020. Following this there was the wait for the GPHC exam due to covid, and I finally became a registered Pharmacist on 15/05/2021.

UCAT:
Total score 2580 (645) Band 2
(verbal reasoning score was 550).

Work experience: not yet, but planning to get some next few weeks.

No WP or contextual flags

do you guys think Sunderland would be a good choice to at least get an interview?

Hi, asking for my friend:

GCSE'S = 4 9s and 6 8s
A-level predictions = A*AA
UCAT = 2550 B1

does he have a realistic chance of getting an offer?
Any reply will be much appreciated.
Thank You.

It will depend on what work experience they can talk about on the Roles and Responsibilities form, and subsequently their interview performance.

Hi guys quick question,
Does anyone know what exactly the roles and responsibilities form is like? Ie do I need to list my roles/responsibilities and describe them? Do I need to attach evidences such as certificate?
This is all I could find from their website so far:
‘This form enables us to make an initial assessment of your non-academic achievements and aptitude for a career in medicine. The form provides an opportunity for you to evidence your commitment to and personal characteristics appropriate for a future doctor.’

Thank you in advance.

Hi, yes I completed one last year for Keele. Yeah you basically just list your roles & responsibilities in various scenarios like leadership/where you lead a team, a role where you helped someone out (eg tutoring) and I'm pretty sure there's a role to do with work experience too, you provide a brief description of them, pretty sure there's a word limit I remember cramming things lol. I don't remember attaching evidence like certificates but you will have to have emails/contact details of someone (not family members) who can verify your roles eg I did tutoring so I included the email of the teacher who organised tutoring at my school. I'll try remember more because I'm reapplying again this year and let you know. Hope this helps! PS your roles don't have to necessarily be medicine-related but anything you think would show that you can be a good doctor lol.
