I got put on the waiting list too, we have to still have hope. We have to be grateful, I have come to terms with it. Well done to all the offer holders, condolences to those who got rejected and the rest of us nervously waiting on the reserves list just adds even more to our anxieties. Good luck to all though, God bless 🙏

Have you had interviews from other med schools?

Anyone who got an offer not thinking of taking up the place due to offers elsewhere?? Give us reserves some hope pls :frown:

we thinking roughly 50-100 reserved places? makes sense 95 offers, won't be more reserved places, surely not?
it is examinations this year, so people are bound to miss a grade. hopefully for me (unfortunate for them). all the best people

No way to know really. I would imagine they wouldn’t double their reserves twice over so at most 100? What will be will be; it is out of our control now. Best to just focus on what we actually have a say in (exams). Good luck to all and congrats to offer holders.

Yes, Aston and Keele but still yet to hear. Rang them both up today, and latest date they are giving out interviews is mid March. If I hear nothing after then, she said assume you have been “deemed unsuccessful”.
The reserves list gives us SOME hope, and after being deflated and disappointed. I have come to conclude the following.

(1) people may not get their achieved grades (especially now it isn’t going to be TAG’s!)
(2) those who have offers, some will have other options, and more desirable options for them.
(3) take this as a pinch of salt people, and it is just a thought, but we don’t know what went on in that meeting on the 11th of February so there’s a 1% chance of there being more spaces available when it comes to May the 19th. This is highly unlikely due to those who have deferred.

Final thoughts…
Everyone is going to have conflicted ideas on the number of people on the reserves list. However, if you think logically they are not going to have 95 people on the reserves list if only 95 offers were given out. They will have statistics from previous years (which I can’t find for Sunderland) about the number of people who rejected Sunderland/didn’t get in because of not achieving the entry requirement (ie Alevel grades). Nevertheless, if you do some research you will find some statistics for the number of reserve places Keele has given out in previous years, and the number of those who got accepted. If Keele is a larger and more renown medical school and is only given 44 people a place on the reserve list as the highest amount in previous years, I imagine Sunderland’s will be lower than that, but no more than 50 places. Have a research, just a very very rough idea of how reserve lists go. Plus Keele and Sunderland are partners and may follow a similar approach, it is JUST A THOUGHT. Good luck, and once again big congrats on the offer holders such a tough year this year especially to get in. As for us reserve guys/girls we have to be hopeful 🤞🙏. And for those who were rejected and aren’t on the reserve list, I hope you get a place elsewhere, and wish you all the best in your future endeavours as well. Godbless people 🙏.

Just a very very rough guide. Only thing I could really find, but there are other unis like Scottish ones which have released date from last year with regards to reserve lists too. All seem to follow a general trend on numbers though compared to offers seem to be much much lower. This is a link to Keeles previous reserve list data

Here is Lancasters reserve list up to 2020 I believe or 2019 and previous years from then. Similar trend.

This is like a general question but when do you accept offers like is there a deadline

This is the big problem as nothing will move now until other med schools make offers and some oriole will sit on 2/3 offers, lucky them until the 19th May. So in short, if you want to go to Sunderland, you should firm it now. Well done. My son on reserve list but this isn’t his first choice. Crossing fingers for Belfast

All valid points. My daughter was on rejected from 2 places last year and got 2 offers on results day and is now at her first choice all along, so keep positive. I think there are many things med schools and UCAS could do to move things along. Sunderland are first to offer, if others offered same time snd people had 2 weeks to firm, this process would be a lot less stressful. Unfortunately this is not the case. I doubt there will be extra places, but as one person chooses somewhere else, the person moves up the list

From looking at the data from Keele and Lancaster it seems like if you get the grades you can still stand a good chance in getting an offer as many on the reserve list won’t get them and some offer holders won’t so I guess we all have to stay positive. I was really upset though as Sunderland was my first choice :/

Does anyone know if there will be an offer holders day for Sunderland ?

I'm not sure yet, it depends if I get any offers from other unis and I haven't visited Sunderland yet so I really want to visit to get a feel for the uni
