I've noticed that every year this thread has many more posts than Bristol gateway to medicine. Why do you guys think this is? Is KCL much better than University of Bristol? Why do so many people choose KCL over Bristol?

Variety of different factors and none of them relate to if a uni is good or not. Different people apply to different universities and some people tend to be more active on threads and speak more such as this. At the end of the day wherever you go your med degree will be equivalent to whatever uni. KCL has its pros and cons and so does the university of Bristol. I chose KCL over Bristol because I love London and the connections like Guys and st thomas hospital

Hey  Can I ask how first year is going in terms of workload, if your lessons are online/in person and if you have any clinical placements in Year 1?

Do Kings use your personal statement during the interview?

In previous years the lowest candidate who got in had 3 A*s and As at GCSEs.
In terms of Ucat, I had a friend who got in with 2450 B3 so it definitely is possible but somewhere else i think it says the lowest was 2380 (I would assume other parts of their application was pretty strong)

Do you think 2530 B3 contextual : postcode(x2) and first gen but no WP programme would be okay?

I am pretty much like u with 2590 B3 and contextual. You don’t need to be WP.
What are your GCSEs and predicted/Achieved ?

Hi, I have a few questions to ask if you don't mind...

- what kind of modules do you cover in first year?

- do you share lectures with the students on the standard programme?

- what does a typical day consist of?

Thank you

Hi no problem sorry for the late reply

In first year for the EMDP programme we have 3 Modules and standard have 4 modules
The modules are basically
biomedical sciences
population sciences
and Clinical practice

For these modules the lectures tutorials and workshops are the exact same for standard and EMDP the only difference between EMDP and the Standard is that the standard have an extra module which is anatomy but we don't go through that until 2nd Year

Some days I have no lectures and I just spend it consolidating my knowledge making Anki flashcards and going through some other Anki flashcards to refresh my memory. Some days I have maybe 4 or 5 online lectures to complete which would take me a while to go through.

Some days I have 9AM or 11AM Tutorials or workshops which I attend then usually have lectures to complete that day aswell
Sometimes I have live lectures with all medical students (Standard & EMDP) in the afternoon. And sometimes I have live lessons with lecturers aswell. Each day varies a lot and I am pretty sure everyone has different timetables .

Hope this helps

So GCSEs do play a role but not as much as the standard. For the EMDP KCL look at everything holistically
And I dont know them personally but someone with a UCAT of 2060 got in but their other stats must have been really good to make up for it

Hope this helps

Hii
Workload is not a lot at all we have quite a lot of free time luckily in first year there is one module that has a lot of lecture videos but apart from that Id say its manageable to be honest

And all lectures are prerecorded but we have tutorials and workshops where we are given worksheets to complete and go through in person in small tutor groups and with a lecturer helping us
And we also have some discussions in the big lecture halls with all medical students together
And no we have no clinical placement just lectures on clinical practise
