Private student accommodation in Manchester

Hey! So I’ve decided to book private accommodation at UoM, I’m a mature student and will be studying nursing so thought it be best to get somewhere a little quieter (or at least have the option to have quiet time). I’ve found a few accoms that I’m interested in; IQ Daisy Bank, IQ Manchester Gardens and Park View.
I’m a little worried about them having a social side at all though... it’s my first year so I really don’t want to get lonely or feel like I’m missing out!

Can anyone shed any light on any of these accoms please? I’d like to have the opportunity to meet plenty of people in my first year but I’m not sure what private accommodation is like for socialising and making friends!

Thanks

I go to Uni in Salford and am at IQ. IQ is great, really nice rooms and communal areas. Also everyone is really friendly at reception which I'm sure would be the case in Manchester too 🙂

Hi! I'm also a mature nursing student starting this September, and am trying to navigate accommodation. I definitely have to pass on living with 18 year olds who might be out partying and drinking and generally being loud every night. So I was wondering if applying for a house share through a website like spare room would be a good idea?

Hey!

I’ve ended up booking and securing my room at Park View - I’ve been told it’s one of the best private accoms for students and has a mix of UoM and MMU. It’s popular with all students including post grads, mature but does have a lot of first years/younger students too. However, they do host events at the accommodation so you get to meet everyone there!

I hope I’ve made the right decision as for the price and location, it’s a great deal! I think it’ll be a good mix of students, but I really didn’t want to risk isolating myself in my first year and feeling a bit lonely! I think with some form of private accommodation you get the best of both worlds (I hope!)

I know lots of people who use spare room though, I’ve also looked and was going to book through that - but there wasn’t anything catching my eye in as good of a location to private unfortunately. I wanted to spend less on travel so ideally wanted to live close to the uni and centre for walking/biking!

Hey thanks for replying and giving me your input, it's definitely brought up things I hadn't considered like saving money on travel! I'll look into park view then. Thanks again, and maybe I will see you around 😊

Hey, so I’m a little older than others as I’m 27, which is obviously why I steered clear of halls! But I’m moving from near Leeds and was told private accommodation hosts more mature students and post grads! I kind of panicked with it and booked private as I didn’t want to leave it too late!
I think as a 21 year old you’d be absolutely fine in any sort of accommodation, depends if you’re still wanting it to be quite sociable or not ☺️
Hey! I'm also looking at Park view for September 2021 because of the price, anyone stayed there before or know people who stayed there? Just curious what their thoughts are on it. I went for a viewing and it looked alright and the staff has been friendly so I'm hoping it goes well

editing to add - I am also a mature student! I will be 25 so I also wanted to stay in a private accom and I heard this one tends to have a good amount of masters/mature students. It would be nice to meet and socialize with students my age so maybe Ill meet some of you there!
