ive been to many trials.

its not the best way to find the best players because most try outs have like 500 people minimum..? you may only have a few minutes to show the coaches what you have. i have been to trials where i didnt even get to touch the ball at all before being eliminated.

The first thing a coach look at a player is his technique. Everything else can be taught/trained but technique takes a long time to be developed. Its something coaches at senior level wont waste time with, those are things players learn in the academy.

So you must display to the coaches that you have good technique. You KNOW how to kick the ball.

Second thing you need to do is to blend in well with your new teammates, otherwise they wont pass you the ball and you wont have any opportunities to show the coach what you have in that few minutes. So dont be shy and introduce yourself to the others well and make them feel comfortable with you.
Asking for the ball proactively will help too.

If you dont get picked , dont give up. Its pretty common to be overlooked. The club might be looking for only 2-3 players out of the 500 participants and its common to not get picked.

Interesting. You sound like a good defender. You back in the USA?
