A lot depends on your prior attainment, how much time you can devote to it and how many A levels you are trying to do Which A level(s) are you considering doing?

You have several choices for studying an A level outside a sixth form:

  1. Self teach using textbook and online resources (there are lots)
  2. Pay for a distance learning course
  3. Get a tutor
  4. A mix of the above
Completely separate to that is entering for the exams. In a normal year they are available only in the Summer and the main entry deadline is in February. You would need to find an exam centre (any secondary school or college, plus some private places) willing to accept you as a private candidate and pay them. Your simplest (and probably cheapest) option would be to enter where you are currently studying if they will let you - get looking in December as it can take a while. They can't make entries until mid-November so there's little point contacting anyone before then.

Hi

Can you pls tell me about some online resources for preparation? Where are they ? Which specific website or place? And can you please also suggest me some text books for preparation.... which I can order online and prepare from ?
I want to do Maths so perhaps if you can suggest Maths text books which will be sufficient to cover the exam syllabus.

Thank you for your help.

You'd have to pick an exam board, although they are all quite similar so it doesn't make a massive difference - Edexcel is one that a lot of people do, and for that you'd need the knowledge from these 4 textbooks:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-lev.../dp/129218339X
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-lev.../dp/1292183403
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-Mat.../dp/1292232536
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Edexcel-Mat.../dp/1446944077

Physics and Maths Tutor is also a good place to look, they're in the process of updating so currently the content is focused on the old/international modular specification, but C1, C2, C3 and C4 line up pretty well with the two pure textbooks anyway, and there are lots of practice questions:
https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/maths-revision/

If you started now and put in work over the summer, I imagine you'd be able to be ready to sit the exams next summer, although obviously if you pick up other A levels too it would be worth holding off a year to give you time to prepare for all of them!

I've not seen that one before, but it's one of the ones Edexcel endorse so it should be decent

There'll probably be 4 options listed - AS level mathematics, A level mathematics, AS level further mathematics, and A level further mathematics. You'll want A level mathematics for a full A level in normal maths (AS level mathematics will be the same as the first year's content for A level mathematics though if you want extra practice materials). The specification you'd want if you picked Edexcel would be the one found here: https://qualifications.pearson.com/e...velMathematics (should have a purple cover with origami pinecones on it).

I'm not sure about the year I'm afraid - all the new specification was released for first teaching in 2017 and first assessment in 2018, so I feel like either year would be a valid way to describe it!

The spec you want for A level Maths is Maths 2017 (the year is the year that is started being taught). The entry code is 9MA0. https://qualifications.pearson.com/e...tics-2017.html

9MA0 tells you all that on its own, but yes, if you're looking to enter at a centre all you need to say is Edexcel A level Maths 9MA0.
