you have to form 2 equations to solve this now moment clock wise =moment anticlockwise
as the log is estimated as a non uniform you have to resolve for b so you get
1500*5=w(4-x) as it's about to tilt about c
and for the second one
1000*5=wx
so 5000/w=x
you subtitute this in eq Number 1
and you get w =3125
you subtitute this in 2 to find x
thats a hard one though,june 2001 was a hard papers hope our will be 120959686 times easier

Right here's my solution.
Moments about C to eliminate reaction.
(W*x) = 1000*5
W = 5000/x
Wx = 5000

Use data from previous section to complete question.
1500*5 = W*(4-x)
7500 = 4W - Wx
7500 = 4W - 5000
4W = 12500
W = 3125N

same thing though I find moments are difficult,and I always get tensed whenever I see a moment question.
