Commute from West London to Luton, or find accommodation there for work?

I just got a placement in Luton and i'm trying to figure out the most efficient way to get there.
Driving is 1 hour ( But I am still taking lessons and don't know whether I will have passed by then)
Or gain accommodation there
In terms of commute time it is easier to live there, however, my salary is not that great and I would like to try and save as much as I can.
I live on the edge of West London by the way ( technically greater london)
Accomm there is roughly 300 -400 per month, but I am going to try and pass my driving before I start so I have the option to commute there too.
Is there anyone here who commutes from West London to Luton, and can tell me how much roughly it costs to get to Luton and back, and whether I can save more by living there?

thanks

What about getting the train?
How long is the placement? Would you be house sharing or own place? If it’s 6 months plus I’d move and just enjoy live there. Commuting long distances each day isn’t great.
