Accommodation or commute?

Hi, I was just wondering about whether it would be best to get accommodation at Northumbria or commute for my first year? If I were commute would it still be easy to meet new people? Im not sure what to do as well due to covid. I was thinking maybe stay at home the first year then get accommodation the second year once I’ve met new people, but now I’m not too sure what to do Please let me know what you think would be best, I’m torn!!
