parking

I am thinking of studying at Northumbria University, I was wondering if anyone had some information regarding parking their car? I know its a 'green' zone, however I'd really like to keep mine for work purposes too. Any help would be very appreciated x

Hi! @rachaelduncan08

I would contact your university housing team about this.
Most universities advise not to bring a car, as there is usually not enough room and you will struggle to park somewhere. They might be able to help you if they think that your car is necessary.
However, your uni should have a free bus service so you can get to places at ease without the need for a car. Plus the expense can sometimes be a burden while you're at uni.

I hope this helps!

Hi Rachel,

I had my car up with me from second year as it's relatively cheap to get a permit when living in the student areas of Sandyford, Jesmond and Heaton. As the majority of halls of residence are in the city centre it's a little more tricky to have your car. You could try to park your car on a street that doesn't require a permit but it's not recommended as it could be a 20 minute walk away.

For the list of permit costs outside the city centre you can look here, or for a city centre permit (which allows you to park in pay and display bays) you can look here.
