What would you say liberalism has to offer when concerning peace? How would it achieve such?

Realism believes that to some extent war is inevitable but that the best deterrant against war is having a big stick either a powerful army or/ and ideally Nukes. Also it is actually less aggressive than Liberal states as only acts for its own interest not ideological purposes such as spreading Democracy ect.
You can compare and contrast the liberal foreign policy of the US (Bush and Obama,) Vs that of the foreign policy of Putin's Russia or China
