Carlo puts tins into small boxes and into large boxes.
He puts 6 tins into each small box.
He puts 20 tins in each large box.

Carlo puts a total of 3000 tins into the boxes so that
number of tins in small boxes : number of tins in large boxes = 2 : 3
Carlo says that less than 30% of the boxes filled with tins are large boxes.

Is Carlo correct?

How many tins are in small boxes, and how many are in large boxes?

And then, how many small boxes are being used, and how many large?

It says 6 tins in a small box. 20 tins in a large box. There are 1200 small boxes. And 1800 large boxes. So 3000 boxes altogether

There are 1200 tins in small boxes, and 1800 in large boxes. I think you may have misunderstood the question slightly.

You then need to work out how many small boxes are needed to contain the 1200 tins, and large for 1800 tins. Then compare.

OK so he would be wrong because there would be more than 30% of the tins in the large boxes.
I just do 6 x 1200 and 20 x 1800 for small and large?

There are 1200 tins that have been put in small boxes, not 1200 small boxes which have tins in.

So it the other way around 1200/6 and 1800/20?
