Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

Looking for some advice on which course may lead to more career opportunities.

I’ve been thinking about doing Environmental science or a degree in Biology with the open university. I’ve always wanted a job in the environmental sector but after being told by everyone that actually getting a job is extremely difficult I’ve been leaning towards biology instead. I would enjoy both so thats not an issue. Do you think the advice i got was accurate? I’ve heard people say I should do a biology degree and then an environmental science masters(which is possible through open uni) so I would imagine that would be the best of both worlds right? Maybe I’m missing something or got something wrong but I’m just looking for advice on which would be the better option in terms of getting a good career out of because at my age I can’t really afford to waste 6yrs of studying part time.
