Issues that may arise for the arguments above, including:
• the possibility of an infinite series
• Hume's objection to the 'causal principle'
• the argument commits the fallacy of composition (Russell)
• the impossibility of a necessary being (Hume and Russell).
Choose 3 of these to be your 3 paragraphs. Each paragraph must begin with an explanation of the issue, then a defence of the cosmological argument against the issue and then optionally a counter-defence. You will then have explained two sides to the debate on that particular issue. Finish the paragraph by giving your judgement as to which side of the debated issue successfully defeats the other, and why. Link back to the question. Add an intro and conclusion and you're done!
Possibility of a infinite series
Hume objecting to the causal principle
Russell theories on the fallacy of composition
Hume and Russell theories on the impossibility of a necessary being
Pick three. Begin each paragraph with a short explanation etc. Prepare your defence well in advance. Conclude with a counter argument on the same topic within the same paragraph as well.
End the essay by giving a quick conclusion. Remember to always link back to the question. Focus in depth on both of the sides of the coin in order to balance your set of opinions carefully. Add in a very short introduction and ending and you have pretty much prepared a decent quality essay.
Good luck. If using the internet, always remember to have a list of good quality reference sources in question to throw in right at the bottom of your essay. You can either do this as a list or in a footer box for example. Type your coursework essay up in black only. Number each paragraph for ease. Make your entire essay easy to read. You can do this.
