Hi,
I'm staring university in September studying Design for Performance which will require me to have a few hand tools, art supplies etc. I'm going to be commuting on the train and then walking the short distance to campus, are there any students who do this and what do you use to carry everything? Is a backpack best or is there anything better? And do you have to take a A3 portfolio case to take your sketchbook?
Thanks

Have you "tested" the train journey during rush hour to see what it is like and whether bulky portfolios or rucksacks might cause a problem?

Also check if there's any locker or equipment storage available on campus. If you can leave your personal equipment in place then that minimises what you have to carry to and from campus.

No I haven't yet because of lock down, I've been waiting for the restrictions to lift to do a test run. I haven't thought about a locker, I will ask when I have my virtual tester day! Thank you for the suggestion.
