What is the nightlife like at Oxford Brookes, and what is near the university

Hello @Freyabar,

Hope you are doing well!!

Unfortunately I am a commuting student, so do not know much about the night life. However, I would be happy to share with you some of the other things students can also do to socialise and for fun during free time.

Being located in the historic city of Oxford, it is a very student based place with many students who reside there. The city centre is full of a range of different things to explore, depending on what you enjoy you will find there are many different activities you can partake in. Ranging from; boating on the canal, bowling, crazy golf and the cinema, just to mention a few. There are also many different varieties of restaurants and cafes, so there is something for everyone. There is a lot that students can do, depending on their interests. It all comes down to their personal hobbies and interests.

The university also has many societies, who hold events, Students can join the societies that interest them and socialise with people with similar interests. Travelling around Oxford is also made easy for students with the Brookes Buses which run regularly between the different campuses and accommodations.

I hope I was able to be of some help. If you would like me to elaborate further on anything that I have mentioned, please feel free to ask.

All the best,

Shaf

Hey Shaf,

Thank you so much for replying that helps a lot, I don't know Oxford that well so your insight as to what it has to offer helped me a lot.

As a commuting student did you find it easy to make friends, I'm debating whether to commute or to stay in halls ?

i live in oxford, the city centre is always full of students at night. as the previous poster said there’s a range of different things to do. definitely lots of night clubs, we also have the O2 academy which isn’t too far from oxford brookes so you can always go and see your favourite artists :h:

city centre has a lot of shops...from smaller businesses to massive shops like john lewis, m&s etc.

there’s alwaysssss loads of busses running so it’s really easy to commute to different parts of oxford

Hi @Freyabar,

I'm so glad I was able to help!

Well personally in my experience I would say that it was easier than I was expecting before starting University. I did feel that I had to make a bit more of an effort to socialise with others during my time on campus and with people on my course, compared to people who were staying in halls. But I made sure to join group chats for my course, as well as societies once I started University. I also met people on my commute that are on my course, so I was able to make friends that way as well.

I preferred staying at home and commuting because even though the commute could be long at times, at the end of the day I was able to go back home. I know friends who preferred living in halls rather than commuting as well, so it does depend on what you are most comfortable doing.

If you would like me to elaborate further on anything or have anymore questions, then please do feel free to ask!

All the best,

Shaf
