I only got a 5 at GCSE maths as well and there is lots of business management degrees which do not require a 6

It is mostly the higher-end universities like Durham which require the higher grade however I think the only reason for it is due to the demand of the course.

Broadly, GCSE requirements are quite strict, with not much leniency from unis. However, there’s no harm in emailing them to ask and to clarify their position.

Have you considered retaking your maths GCSE to achieve that higher grade?

Yes - you will be rejected. GCSE requirements are about basic skills and are not flexible.

You can however retake this GCSE alongside your A levels etc next year - just ask your school.
The Uni will just add this as an extra condition to any offer.
