I am planning on applying to KCL's PhD program in music focusing on ethnomusicological research. In the states it is sometimes expected to contact professors/potential advisors before applying to ask whether they might be interested in supervising you and to ask advice re your application. My question is whether this is also an expected procedure at KCL, and more generally when applying to PhD programs in the UK. Any other information regarding music PhDs at KCL is welcome!
