I applied to Cardiff university earlier this year and have accepted it as my first choice. I then decided I actually want to go a gap year. I've emailed and it's all sorted that I'll be starting in September 2022 rather than September 2021.
I was just wondering a if i need to apply for student finance and accommodation this year?

I did exactly the same as you and I'd already applied for student finance because I deferred on A-level results day, and the way it works is you just re-apply at the same time next year! In terms of accommodation, it would also be the same! Cardiff University will let you know the accommodation opening times next year and you'll usually get preference as you deferred, so your offer becomes an unconditional due to the defer, meaning you'll get first choice.... or at least that's how it was for me at UEA!
Hope this helps!
