Will I be able to get a SFE maintenance loan for all 5 years of a vet medicine undergraduate degree? I am taking this as a second undergraduate degree. I already have a undergrad degree (3 years) a masters degree (1 year) and a PGCE (1 year). My household income will be below 25K. I am 50 years old.

Hi there, sorry for the delayed response. Will this degree lead on to you becoming a Veterinary Surgeon?
Thanks, Isaac

Yes
Our guidance states:

Usually students with a previous qualification would be ineligible to further core funding if they already hold an honours degree. However, from 2010 onwards, students will be eligible for maintenance loan support (as well as supplementary grants and/or DSA where applicable) if they are studying a new course which leads to a qualification as a:

Medical Doctor
Dentist
Veterinary Surgeon
Architect (RIBA 1 and 2 studied as one continuous full time course)
Social Worker
Teacher

So as long as your course leads to this then you should be able to apply for funding. There will be no Tuition Fee Loan, you will have to self fund the course fee.
Thanks, Isaac
