The fact that Legal Cheek puts stuff like this up is shocking. And for what it's worth, many firms use Thomson Reuters' services exclusively, as well as their own precedent banks, so the unfortunate customer may never actually get to use the skills they paid for!
If anyone wants to demonstrate their legal research skills, they can do so by getting good at mooting, taking a disertation module, getting a First in their degree, publishing something, etc. They do not need to pay money or waste any more of their valuable time for it.
