The nephew of my brother-in-law has died aged four years old, and my sister is brokenhearted about it, as she counted him and his brother as her nephews. Obviously, I find the news tragic. But, I wouldn't say that I am upset or anguished about it. As he was not a blood relative.

Not really. Im the same. If I am not close with the person that I’m not gonna be that upset about it but I would also feel sorry for the family and stuff.

I do feel sorry for the family, as it is tragic. But, as I said, the child was not my relative, so I am not broken about it.

No.
People respond to hearing about a death in different ways.
Most people will usually feel different emotions according to how well they knew the deceased, how long they had known them and the type of interaction they were used to.
