Have you ever tried melatonin? It really helped me when I was having sleep troubles a couple years ago.

By far the most common cause of insomnia is excessive sleep and by far the most effective single treatment is sleep restriction.
Things like daytime sleeping, thinking you 'need' to sleep x number of hours (and increasing that number as your lseep gets worse) are common culprits.
