how to cite articles/essays in bibliography? For A-level english courseworkWatch
For English, it's probably best to use the Harvard style. This is an 'author year' style. For example:
"The trees were green" (Smith, 2019).
This website gives an overview. I would look over that, even google 'how to reference', and get a general idea. Then, you can use the referencing features on word, but crucially know how to reference and if what you're doing is correct.
Dolezal, L. (2012), ‘Reconsidering the Look in Sartre’s: Being and Nothingness’, Sartre Studies International 18(1), 9–28.
Fanon, F. (2008), Black skin, White masks, Pluto Press. trans. Markmann, C.L.
I have the surname, then the first letter (so, Luna Dolezal is Dolezal, L). Then the year in brackets. After, the title of that book or article.
For the article, you then want to put the journal name (here, Sartre Studies International) and the volume and number of that journal. Finally, the pages. All this information will be on the article you are citing. For the book, I added the publisher (and because this was translated, the translator name).
