*cant believe she failed to down her pint in one in front of EVERYONE!*

normally it takes like 3 seconds to go but today it refused to do so. i hope no one had to witness my epic failure as thefirst women's rugby girl to take her pint.

my toga is comfy though...

Oh dear Lizzie.

Hockey initiation was ridiculous and went something like this:

Down a dirty pint (in my case cider, whipped cream and tabasco sauce), spin round a hockey stick 5 times, hurdle 2 hockey sticks on beer cans. Down a pint, repeat above. Down another pint, repeat above. Down a 4th pint, repeat. Down a double sambuca. 10/11 people were sick (including me, rather spectacularly) and it was a ******* good night out!

Same here, I lost my flip-flops in the foam party and was waiting for my mate so we could go home and this **** of a bouncer put me in a head-lock and dragged me down the fire-escape and threw me out! ******.

The bus was also interesting - nearly naked, shoeless and drunk off my tits. In retrospect it was actually quite dangerous. :s-smilie:

Sounds like a good night to me :P

Last year I went to the Fabric Refreshers Festival. Played drinking pro evo with my mates beforehand and ended up having half a bottle of sambuca in a short space of time - was absolutely wasted at Fabric and don't remember most of it. I ended up leaving some time around 1am, walked the wrong way out (didn't know at the time) so I was heading away from Bankside and not towards it. Slept on a doorstep for 2 hours, was sick at a bus stop, phoned a friend at 6:30am asking him to go on Google maps to find out where I was, turned out I was at Angel lol. Good times.

TBH I think it will be a lot better when we aren't wrapped in bed sheets lol.

Oh and I didn't know it was a foam party until I was covered in foam - I can't stand it tbh, I always end up choking on the stuff.

yeah, i was more concerned about losing it than anything else!!! my welfare was of higher importance to me than getting more drunk, though!!! i had about 50 safety pins holding it in.

im going to my first ever foam party on friday night in andover when i go home for the weekend! see me lovely family:biggrin::biggrin:, as well as get birthday presents, which consist of books.......... but, if its for the cause, then wooop!!

yeah, theyre sooo rude, heavy handed and generally annoying, though at fresh there's one that always wears a red cap and is on the door usually, he is an absolute legend! i really get on with him, i saw him last night and we were chatting about fresh last week, and then i remember telling him i wouldnt be going again:biggrin:.

i cant remember what time i left though, so im sure, by default, youll have no idea either:biggrin:.
One of the bouncers is called Sacha. He's a ****.

He's the one who, from just looking at him, you know he's a right ****.

He wouldn't let me into Crush once last year because I was apparantly too drunk :frown: Getting rejected from such a poor night was possibly my lowest moment of last year
DannyBoy123
OK, I hate to whine, I really do, but a number of things have been pissing me off about LSE so far.

To start with, the Freshers Fayre - poorly organised and just generally a bit ****. It annoyed me after I heard so many good things about it. Then there was Fresh last week which was just appalling really and this was on top of a whole load of other minor things that aren't worth mentioning here but which have served to fuel my anger.

However. However. Despite all the posts, all the warnings and the expectation that I could get around it, the social life here is a load of ******* ********. Why do I say this? Because this weekend I spent my time in UCL Ramsay Hall and frankly, it is 100 times better than Rosebery which IS the best social hall at LSE. Honestly. And that really depressed me as it turns out those people who said don't come here if you want a vaguely normal Uni experience were right. I was so depressed about this today I was seriously considering dropping out but then I decided not to as that would disappoint me, my parents, my grandparents, my aunt, my great uncles and probably my dogs as well. I have met some genuinely brilliant people here (Jxhn and The Dark Side amongst them) but the atmosphere just isn't what I had hoped for or naively expected.

Anywho this is just a general rant: feel free to agree, shoot me down or offer condolences or whatever, lets hope things get better from here on out. :yep: :frown:

hate to say i told you so young Confucius
Hmm interesting thread. When I started LSE last year, I was quite surprised at how people seemed to find their group of friends so quickly. I didn't have a problem talking to people and I met so many people during freshers and generally the first few weeks of term but I didn't really hang out with a certain crowd because I wanted to get to know lots of people first to see who I would click with. I had a good time during freshers but it was absolutely fantastic as some people tend to say when they over exaggerate Freshers week by saying that it will be 'the best week of your life'. It can be quite overwhelming at first but you shouldn't really base what the rest of your time at LSE will be like from a couple of weeks because the mood does change a bit during the term.

Well the OP doesn't seem to have trouble with friends as such but the general atmosphere of LSE which I admittedly think probably doesn't compare to other unis but it is what I kinda expected. It does get quite frustrating when there seems to be a constant focus on careers etc. Just make the most out of London in general because there is loads to do outside of your studies. 'LSE is what you make it' is used quite a lot but it's true. You should be able to meet like minded people to make your experience of LSE better. Joining societies and being active in them by attending events and socials is a good way to meet people who are probably on your wavelength. I've been to Ramsay hall on a few of occasions to visit a friend and I did meet some cool people but it wasn't brilliant lol.

Just think that you're only a couple of weeks into the term and you never know, things could get much better and I hope it does for you and others who have posted on this thread

Oh and I'm glad to see some posters enjoyed the RAG Freshers' Ball. It was a success and we raised a lot of money . Also that Toga party sounds crazy. I know a some people who went...didn't see them on campus so I'm guessing they were nursing a hangover

Seconded.

RAG Freshers were really good, however drinks could have been a bit more student friendly! Although the venue and music were the best I have seen/heard in my first weeks at London.

AU/initiations night sounds mad, I am glad I gave it a miss!!!!
Sorry guys, I am your problem. That is, I'm quiet and don't go out much.

I don't know, I am kind of feeling similar but for different reasons.. I'm not into venues whose main attraction are cheap drinks and commercial music.. i'd like to find some people that I could do things with like go to art galleries, or explore London by doing some automatic walking, or go to a different coffee shop every week, or look in the papers for weird conspiracy clubs to join, or follow the goths of camden to see where they're going, or go to a squat party just for the sake of it... . But I either meet people who are mainly about studies or those who want a social life, but a generic one..

Right.

On Anon was **** tonight; I and a few others decided that clubbing has finally lost it's appeal and we're planning to do some different stuff in the local area (going out for a meal, pub crawls, pub golf etc.). Tiger Tiger is a good night out IMO as is Cheapskates but the rest is crap.
