Well, it has to be affecting you in a lot of different areas in terms of activities of daily living and/or your mobility.
You can find the scoring criteria online but essentially you have to be having significant issues in many aspects of daily living - washing, dressing, making and eating food, taking medication, mobilising, etc.

I may have given originals of documents from my mental health team to the DWP (when I was claiming another benefit) which forms part of my evidence/proof of disability so how would I go about getting these documents again? Would I have to ask my GP for these documents?

What if you don’t have much proof/no proof at all to show that you need help with daily living and mobility (mobility being the main issue for me) but your family and everyone that knows you knows you have issues?

Which condition is making mobility more difficult for you? There may be a suitable charity which can advise.

You can ask your GP, but try and get photocopies of evidence.

In what way is mobility an issue? Do you have a physical issue with walking? Or is it more with going outside?

You can get PIP without mountains of evidence, but this is incredibly difficult. I always send in copious amounts of evidence for each of my conditions when I have to redo forms.

It isn't about the condition, it is about how bad the condition affects you. It must affect you more than half of the week so 4 days or more out of 7 days. For instance, I have mental health issues which includes anxiety, borderline personality disorder and ptsd. I also have some physical health issues. I get enhanced care and enhanced mobility elements for 4 years. I got it first time 6 years ago and got it for 2 years and then when my renewal came I got it first time again for 4 years. You need to make sure you have lots and lots of evidence from doctors, specialists, hospital etc. If you don't have evidence you will get nowhere. I have lots of experience with PIP so if you want extra help feel free to reach out

its more with going outside. I am restricted when it comes to looking for work because I can’t travel at all without being accompanied by anyone. I am restricted to local places and I mean within walking distance, I can’t read maps and I get lost when I go to the local job centre by myself so I go with my parent and my parents have to take days off in order to accompany me to places.

I would like to tell you in private.

i was told by my local council (who I have been referred to to get support for looking for work) that I am qualified to get PIP when she heard of my medical history and how it affects me. She wondered why I joined their organisation because they help you get into work, and clearly she thinks I have a disability from what I have said but she doesn’t want my disability to stop me from getting into work.

None of this is relevant if you can make yourself a meal and walk 50 meters. If you want to apply for PIP request the application form but I would strongly suggest looking online at the scoring criteria first.

Even from your limited posts there’s already a stumbling block. Your parents are at work all day so do you have a carer? Who gets you up? Who helps or reminds you to wash yourself? Who makes sure you’re safe in the kitchen? These are the questions they’re going to ask (please don’t answer them on here - it’s too early and no one cares - just using them as an example of how high the PIP bar is).

Couldn’t pm you.

I applied for DSA and was advised to apply for PIP.

I was rear shunted in a car accident last year and since suffering from lower back pain, neck pain , headaches , anxiety and depression. I do have 3 young children. Because of covid it was so difficult to see GP but I’m reaching out to local physios and talk works , mental health staff . So I don’t have so much evidence.

Could you please share some of your experiences since you’ve been getting it right all the time. Thank you.
