I buy the odd scratch card, occasionally I win. I used to play on the fruit machines in the pub, albeit I haven't done that in quite some time. But, never do I spend stupid amount of money which I know I will rarely get back. At the end of the day, it is down to the individual.

Gambling for the vast majority...is a massive destroyer of wealth that is designed to exploit people of lower socioeconomic groups.

pointless

Occasionally I'll acquiesce to 'peer pressure' on special occasions when everyone decided to buy scratch cards or whatever. This rarely happens though. Maybe twice in my life.

I literally got given a £10 voucher to spend in a casino once, went to the casino with some friends. Then gave the voucher away and didn't spend anything.

Should have teamed up with a mate, put £10 on red, £10 on black and then split the £20 winnings.

I've been to casinos a few times & enjoyed it. It's not something I'd want to make a regular habit of though.

Agreed - there is reason why most betting shops are in poorer areas!

Having said that, I'll put a bet or now and again and buy a lottery ticket on the odd occasion, but I feel bad for people who get hooked. I work in a bank and now and again on some people's statements will just all be outgoings to bookies with nothing ever coming in from them :/

There was a very large uptick in business for gambling services during the 2008 crash. And predatory loan sharks as well.

Probably is happening right now as well. Haven't checked or followed the trends tbh.

Very rarely, I'lll buy a lottery ticket. Other than that, I'm really quite anti-gambling, I know quite a lot of people who've found themselves in debt through it. Started out as a little bit here and there/ it was fun and then it became addictive, despite the lows of losing it all.

I definitely don't think gambling and casinos need to be advertised on TV either.
