This is specifically for AQA A level (I do the sciences)
Am I right in thinking that they only have these resources, or are there more?:
1. Use the 2020 papers
2. Use a mix of the 2017-2019 questions
3. Use the materials released on the 19th
4. Write their own questions
2 and 3 are bad because we have access to the mark schemes
4 is impossible because they'd have to get them checked and standardised by the exam boards right?
So the only option, really, are the 2020 unreleased papers? Right? Or am I missing something?

I thought the exam boards were releasing voluntary papers to schools? --tho this could be what you mean by the materials released on the 19th.
Not certain if this is right tho.
Im pretty sure my school's writing their own questions. :/ and changing them between classes but thats not normal apparently

Yes I am very curious on what theyll do as they said "most additional assessment materials are taken from past papers – including ones from 2019 and 2020 that haven’t previously been publicly released" so there wont be any new material and we technically have access to all of the past papers and markschemes except those in 2019 and 2020. However I am not sure if they'll be doing very very old past papers as there is a new spec. So would it all be based on papers past 2016 or what?

My daughter did a maths exam last week and it was a 2020 paper. She said it was the hardest exam she's ever done - even the teacher handing it out said it was really hard. I ended up emailing the teacher who reassured me that grade boundaries aren't going to be like previous years. From what I understand the whole class found it hard. After only 2 weeks of face to face education in 2021 it's then been straight into exams - plus what should have been 6 full terms of in person sixth form ended up being two - the online education was either non existant or very hit and miss here. So I think even if you think you've done badly you can't compare it to how things were marked before - if everyone in the class is getting say 30% then maybe 35% would be an A?? Who knows?! I just hope the schools are as fair as possible as everyone has had such varied learning during the pandemic.

does anyone here understand the grade descriptors? I am doing AQA biology and really need an A but the grade descriptors make getting an A seem so much harder than usual grade boundaries... I am worried
