Was wondering what the best way of analysing the metaphor . “That spirit of discovering is in ourDNA” would be ?

Hi! I don’t know the context so I’m not certain how helpful this’ll be, sorry! I’d look at unusual language choices, and then try to link it to themes in the text or wider context. For example, the use of ‘DNA’ (scientific language) is an interesting choice here, as they could have used a word like ‘soul’, and may suggest things about the speaker’s mindset or character. You could then look to see if the speaker has used scientific languages elsewhere, whether this is a theme in the text, and what the attitudes towards science were like at the time the author was writing. Obviously this might be a completely irrelevant example, but hopefully it gives you an idea of how you could approach it! Good luck, hope this helps!
