Can anyone tell me, if I resit a higher and achieve a lower grade than I have currently, will the lower grade stand or will I still have achieved the better grade?
For example, if I resit English and currently have a B at Higher and I achieve a C in the resit. Will my qualification in English now be a C or would it still be B?

I would guess you will have your August 2020 certificate with all your courses that year saying you got a B, Then your August 2021 certificate with all your subjects saying you got a C.
When you apply to uni you are asked for subject, grade and year and you would need to declare both and sent in both certificates.
So really up to who you are applying to and how they view it.
