Bioscience/allied healthcare courses at 96 ucas points

I am a private candidate resitting two of my a levels this year. Last years my centre assessed grades were ADD, giving me a total ucas tarring points of 96. I received low grades in bio and chem bc of internal standardisation my sixth form did, as no student in the history of the school had gotten above a D even though I was getting A/B’s throughout sixth form.

I am resitting bio and chem but honestly I don’t think it will be better grades my mental health has seriously deteriorated and I’ve had prolonged periods over the past few months where I haven’t even been able to leave my bed so my studying has suffered a great deal as you can imagine. I and trying to revise for the exams but in a worse case scenario where I don’t achieve better, is there any courses related to biosciences, healthcare professions, life sciences that will accept me in clearing with 96 ucas points.

I have a conditional offer from Cardiff for Physiotherapy but I need AB this summer but it’s highly unlikely I’m going to achieve it. Does anyone have any advice/help they can offer please.

Anyone? Any advice pls
There are degree courses that would accept 96 points - and are likely to still be open if you want to apply through Extra - Applied Bioscience at South Wales (https://www.southwales.ac.uk/courses/bsc-hons-applied-biosciences/), Biomed at Worcester (https://www.worcester.ac.uk/courses/biomedical-science-bsc-hons)

Or look at Foundation courses - these usually have low entry requirements and would still allow you to go on to complete a full degree. Examples - Brighton (https://www.brighton.ac.uk/courses/study/biological-sciences-bsc-hons-with-integrated-foundation-year.aspx), or Man Met (https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/course/ba-integrated-health-and-social-care-with-foundation-year/).

Hi @Kizzab7

Here at Manchester Met, we do offer a foundation year that will allow you to progress directly onto our BSc(Hons) Biomedical Science course. The foundation year provides a route onto a life sciences degree if you don't have the qualifications or have not studied advanced level subjects sufficiently related to your course of choice.

The Foundation Year would be Science and Engineering degrees with a foundation year (Life Sciences route) For BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science with a Foundation Year the UCAS code is C742.

The entry requirements for the course are 72-80 UCAS points, in addition, we require GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade D/3 or above.

You may wish to explore our On-Demand Open Days where you can view subject presentations, subject areas, virtual campus tour, FAQs from our teaching staff and our student Life Fair covering everything from how to apply, student life, student living, careers to student support and overseas study and exchange. If you are interested you can access the On-Demand Open Day here: https://www.mmu.ac.uk/study/open-days/undergraduate/demand-open-days

You may find it useful to chat with one of our current Students on our Access Platform. Students can chat with you about student life and what it is like studying courses at Manchester Met https://www.mmu.ac.uk/chatwithus/

I hope this helps! Good luck with everything

Carly
