Very Quick Maths Question, would like to know the answer!

a/b = 2/5 find a:b
the / is just a representation of the fraction

Well 2:5 can also be written as 4:10, 8:20, 1:2.5.... did you perhaps change it to this (you'll get lucky!)

2:5 in decimal form is 0.4

The : can easily be replaced by a / sign.

That's because that's an entirely different meaning altogether.

2:5 means that in every 7 parts, there will be 2 of the former kind and 5 of the latter, hence 2/7

Well I'm in year 11, usually good at maths (I get around 70/80 in all my maths tests) however I completely blanked this question and I wrote weird things. I hope I get a mark for 2a:5b but I doubt it.
