I'm 16. I'd like to find a weekend job somewhere around my area, but there are no offers online anywhere close. Would it be sensible to go around places in my town (I'm thinking cafes or something similar) and ask about work in person? Do I even have any chances with this pandemic going on?
If so, any ideas on how to start the conversation? I'm quite shy, and obviously, I don't have a CV since this would be my first case of any work experience.

I'm not under 18 but I remember my first proper job at 16. I applied to a casual job at the local racecourse, mostly weekends but you could pick up extra shifts as and when you wanted. I applied online. You can but only try, I'm not sure if the pandemic is going to be an issue though!

How did you apply online, when sites such as indeed make you upload a proper CV when applying for a job? Did you make one despite not having anything to put on it? Sorry if my question is stupid, I'm very new to this.

They actually had an appeal in a newspaper haha. However for nowadays it's probably online. Have you got any big stadiums such as racecourse, music arena, wedding venue or casinos? They usually opt for casual staff but hours are ok. They tend to advertise on their own websites, or at least they did.

Unfortunately I don't, it's quite a small town mostly centred around food places but thanks for the reply!

Highly recommend phoning places up especially at the minute. Food pubs will be quite a good bet if your only 16 as they’re always looking for waiting staff sat/sun

Hi, I got my first job when I was 14, using the website 'indeed'. I looked through all the jobs in my area every few weeks until one came up in a cafe, which was perfect, and I'm still working there three years later. Just because there aren't any online right now, don't give up - keep checking because new ones will come up.

Also, not having any work experience doesn't mean you can't write a CV or something similar, you just have to work with what you've got. Write about what you're studying in school and what hobbies you have - they can still show what qualities you might have like teamwork and commitment that they'd want in an employee.
