Does anyone know what methods are used to pay for accommodation at the university of Hull? I want to know whether I need to set up a new bank account because my current bank charges fees for certain types of transaction. Thanks!

It will depend on whether the university runs the accommodation itself, or whether it's a third-party provider.
If it's run by the university, email or phone the university's accommodation team and ask them. If it's run by a third-party provider then contact that provider.
It's likely that any provider will offer a choice -- standing order/direct debit/bank transfer, and probably also debit card or credit card. They might also accept payment by cheque. These days it's unlikely they'll accept cash.

Hey @Dpat1210,
If you are staying with us on campus in either Westfield Court, the Courtyard or Taylor Court I would recommend either emailing our accommodation office or calling them and they will be happy to talk to you about that.
I stay with a private student accommodation landlord currently and for me the rent payment is done via bank transfer around the same time as each Student Finance Maintenance payment and I have had no issues with this so far in terms of extra fees.
On a side note I would recommend having a look around at various banks at the different student accounts they will be offering. They can come with decent incentives as well as good interest rates on overdrafts.
I hope this helps, Isaac University of Hull Student Representative
