Hi i am in yr 12 looking to apply to Oxford
my a levels are: history, english lit, politics and maths (i took maths up over Christmas hoping to drop politics next yr and go with just 3)
i am torn between PPE vs History and Politics
i am also looking to apply to leeds and edi for history and politics however the PPE course really interests me at Oxford
any advice on making this decision / any students at Oxford your help?
I love history but the philosophy aspect of PPE particularly draws me in. not 100% on the economics as have never studied it before

hi! I’m at oxford, but studying law instead but I’ll do my best to give some advice! it might be worth looking at career paths post oxford to decide, for example a disproportionate amount of UK politicians studied PPE at oxford. (PPE was a subject I seriously considered so I have more info on it, sorry!) It’s also (I believe) a unique course to oxford. If you’re really not sure and you’re just looking for a way to pick, I would suggest looking up the professors for each course (ie do any of them research something particularly interesting?) also the course content (ie what exactly you study), and any societies/opportunities for each subject (I know for law, law firms will host events!). In the end, it comes down to what you are most interested in - maybe have a read of some academic writing and see which subject seems more interesting to you? Good luck, I wish you all the best
xx
