Queen Mary University vs The Business School(formerly Cass)for Business andManagement

I'm going to study in London starting from September 2021 and I got an offer from both Queen Mary and Cass Business School for an undergraduate course in business and management. Cass course is a four years (with the third year in industry) while Queen Mary's one is a standard three years long course. Which uni do you think is the best in terms of prestige and recognition and quality of study for this specific course? I also value social life.
I believe they are both good courses. I would have a preference towards Cass because it has a longer tradition in business subjects.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion. Do you think that the change in name (I think it's going to be called Bayes Business school from this September) will affect negatively the value of the degree? I've heard there are many ex alumni complaining that the change in name will cause people to link the degree to the parent University City of London, which has a less renowned reputation and is lower in rankings compared to the business school.
In the long run I don't believe it will make a difference. Imperial Business School was also known in the past as Tanaka Business School. But surely a lot of people were not happy that they changed the name from Cass to Bayes. Cass was well known and obviously any new name will have an adjustment period.

But I would not consider my choice based on the name change. Cass (or Bayes) is a very good business school (I would never say top something since these are dangerous absolute statements) but most people would agree that it is a very good business school.
imo Cass is way better than QMUL

i'm in the exact same situation, i have an offer from both. Although I assumed qmul would be better than bayes as it is a russel group uni.

Queen Mary (QM) and City are both colleges of the university of London. City is a plate glass university and gained its university status in 1966. QM, was admitted to the University of London in 1915 and in 1989 merged with Westfield College to form Queen Mary and Westfield College. Queen Mary is a member of the Russell Group of British research universities.

In terms of of overall ranking QM ranks 41st in the Times Ranking out of 132 unis in the UK and 117 worldwide in THE ranking. Here the links:

https://www.timeshighereducation.com/world-university-rankings/2022/world-ranking#!/page/0/length/25/sort_by/rank/sort_order/asc/cols/stats

City ranks 55th in the Times Ranking out of 132 unis in the UK and 351-400 worldwide in THE ranking.

So in terms of overall ranking QM is slightly better than City.

However when it comes to finance and business related subjects Bayes Business School enjoys a better reputation than the School of Economics and Finance of Queen Mary. Queen Mary also does not have a Business School like City.

so while applying for internships and jobs do companies look at ranking or the university itself.

Both are important. My personal view is that if you are intending to do a finance or business related degree than Bayes is a better choice than QM. If you are intending to do attend a different degree than QM is most probably a better choice. Nevertheless, both QM and City are constituent colleges of the university of London and in terms of ranking they are not that much apart.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for your response, this was really helpful!!
Hey, what did u decide to attend in the end? I’m now thinking about both of these universities too. Was it hard to get into Bayes?

I firmed Bayes and insured qmul.
2022 or 2023 intake?
Im not very sure about how hard or easy it is to get in but the requirements weren't as high as unis like kcl and stuff....for business management atleast
Bayes requires for most (if not all as far as I can see) of its undergraduate finance courses AAA in the A levels.

If we take the BSc in Accounting and Finance which is offered by all 3 universities they all have very similar requirements (which is not surprising given that they are all good schools and colleges of the University of London (UoL)). Kings and QM Russell group members, Kings founding college of the UoL and City/Bayes has the largest business school of them all.

City/Bayes (AAA or 35 at IB)
QM (AAA or 36 at IB)
Kings (A*AA or 35 at IB).

Oh my bad...i don't know why I thought city's requirement is AAB....I'm an international student so I guess I mixed up the conversion

I’m going with 2023 intake cause now I only have High School Diploma from Russia and going to start with Access to HE course. I’ve heard it’s quite easy to complete and get distinctions there. I think about applying to KCL too cause they accept access course too, but idk if they are as good as Bayes in Business & Finance subjects 🤷🏻*♀️

I think Bayes is known more for their postgraduate business courses. Kcl would probably be better for undergrad

Yes I agree Bayes is known more for its postgraduate degrees. But as I mentioned before they are all good schools (all colleges of the University of London) and the entry requirements are very similar. I have a slight preference towards Bayes because it is has the largest business school of them all and in the latest REF scored quite high (5th in the UK after Cambridge, Imperial, LBS and LSE) in terms of GPA.
