Just thought it might be helpful if I said that I received an acknowledgement (by email) from Leeds this morning for my course, but there was no mention of the Access scheme in the email.

Wow! yhh I've head leeds are giving out offers already too. Quite a few of them.
None however for Dentistry! :frown: no acknowledgments, no interviews, no offers for dentistry yet! what are they playing at?!? (although the website does say its likely to be well into January before they make first contact!) :P

I was supposed to post on here a long time ago.
I was sent a letter by access to leeds, it just said that my application had been sent to the relevant department and gave me some information on some scholarships and bursaries.
I've also now received an acknowledgement for my course but its just an automated response with no mention of access to leeds.
Just attempting to keep everyone in the loop!

Does anyone else thinks it's really unfair that you can apply for A2L and have 2 grades dropped from a typical offer just because you're on EMA and you're parents didn't go to uni?
I have friend who was kidnapped and sexually abused for 2 days in year11, and as a result she developed severe depression, tried to commit suicide twice and battled with anorexia to the point where she only weighed 5.5 stone. Needless to say she was hardly at school for years 11 and 12 and yet somehow found the strength to teach herself just before her exams and got BBB at AS - before all this she was top of our year at school and predicted 8A* and 3A's at AS.
However she can't apply for Access because she doesn't match any other criteria! It sickens me to read this and find out most people are applying because they're on EMA and they're parents didn't go to uni! How does that hinder your education?? If you're really that bright it shouldn't matter how much money you're parents earn!! Something like what my friend went through affects true potential...
it's such a shame political-correctness has come to this x

Surely that would fit into:
•Studies disrupted by circumstances in their personal, social or domestic lives.
So i think she does fit into criteria, although you have to fit into two to be eligible.
And it’s not fair but it is encouraging social mobility which I think is a good thing. It is also the only University to actually take into account students personal lives, like your friends, which I think can only be praised.
I received two offers the other day for History and Philosophy (through the Access to Leeds scheme) and I am waiting to hear from straight History.

I got an email confirming that I have been accepted onto the scheme, but I already made my first offer (AAB) my firm choice. Does anybody know whether I'll still be able to accept my lowered offer (BBB) as my firm?

Thanks.

Do you mean that you have accepted another university's offer as your firm? If so, then no, you cannot change it. If you mean that you have accepted Leeds' offer but it still says AAB then they should change this, but if not then ring them up before results day.

Yeah I put Leeds as my firm. I was just hoping they'd reduce my AAB to BBB.
Thanks for letting me know! =]

I've been accepted onto the scheme, but now something else is bothering me. Completion of the scheme is supposed to lower your offer by 40 ucas points, but my "lowered" offer is no better!!! My original offer of AAB (A in French, A in German and B in anything else) has been lowered to AAD. I don't understand why they've done it! It's pointless! I already have a grade A in psychology A-level as it is! I wanted the French and German grades to be lowered! :eek3: I hope it's just an error, but if not I'm going to have to study REALLY hard!

I need help! I got an offer to study history of art with museum studies which requires BBB, as i'm coming from a btech national diploma, the equivalent of BBB is around DMM (i also have an AS which should give me extra ucas points). i got an offer for DDM, which is higher than i expected... as i've been accepted onto the access to leeds scheme, will my offer be made lower, or say DMM or something... or is the offer they put on ucas the final offer?!

confused, i was given the estimated grades DDD in my first year but ive got ill in my second year which is why i applied for access to leeds in the first place because theres no way i can get DDM now let alone DDD!

for those i confused in this post, on my course; D = A, M = B, P = C

someone pleaseeeee shed some light on this situation :frown:

Hey guys I'm applying under the personal circumstances section but this is quite subjective so can anyone advise me about how to go about this. I have a reference from a professional for this. Thanks  especially people who have already applied under this criterion and were successful
