There's two main ways of making money from games- getting good enough that you can make money through competing in tournaments and wagering sites (along with the sponsorship opportunities available to high profile esport players), or building a presence on streaming/content sites like Twitch and YouTube that can be monetised via advertising or sponsorships.

Choosing a game with the intention of making money off of it is generally going to be the wrong approach, especially if you're planning to do it via competitive play- there's no point playing the games with the biggest prize pools like League, DOTA and Fortnite if you're not good enough to win at the high level. You will gain more money by winning tournaments at smaller games than you will losing in high profile ones, so find the games you stand a chance of actually winning tournaments/wagers in rather than making futile attempts at prizes you stand no chance of attaining. On the video side of things, you need to have both content capable of building an engaged audience with, playing a game(s) with a large enough viewership to build an audience from. Being good at a game is normally required to build an engaged audience unless you can overcome that through sheer entertainment value, but neither of these things are going to do much good for you if the game you're playing is something not many people care about watching.
