Falls through + induces current in coil (lenz's law opposes the magnets field) + cuts the coils flux.

So as the magnet falls is it the magnet's flux which is changing or the coils flux changing which induces the emf?

Magnet falls through
The coil cuts the magnets flux and gets an EMF/current induced
The current creates a field (opposing magnet)
******s the magnets motion through the coil as a result of this (magnet kinetic energy -> coil power -> energy dissipation, etc)
