Go to Cardiff. I live in Surrey (out of term time) and it's ok, but not as good as Cardiff for students. Guildford is nice, London is quite close, but Ive been to Cardiff and it just wins

Cardiff beats Surrey in almost every aspect.

Most of Surrey courses include a year in industry, so this is good if you want to find employment after you graduate because it shows you have some work experience. However, I don't really think much of Guildford. It's "nice", but boring in my opinion. I think it's supposed to be expensive to live there too.

I haven't been to Cardiff, but I reckon it will be more fun being a city and not a town. There will be more to do.

Cardiff is a great city and it has plenty there to entertain students of any persuasion
It also has a great reputation for a great variety of subjects.

Cardiff is an amazing town for Students. City Centre is within walking distance of all the accommodation (except for University Halls, but it's still not ridiculously far away), the university campus is all in the same place (unless you're a Medic) so you don't have to trek about to get from one department to another, The night-life is amazing, the amount of choice you have in terms of bars, pubs, clubs and other attractions is mind-numbing. Brilliant academic reputation, especially in terms of research. All the shops you could ever want, most things are cheaper than elsewhere...

Been to both Cardiff and Surrey uni's (visited academic colleagues at the former and taught undergrads at the latter).

The placement year is very helpful if you want to go on to train as a psychologist, but if you want a general degree Cardiff is a much nicer place and it is much cheaper to live there than Guildford.

I'm applying to both, and will probably as them as my firm (Cardiff, AAB if you do a science) and insurance (Surrey, ABB)!

They both do training years, although Cardiff's one is optional. To me, Cardiff seemed like the better course as it had a load of extras, such as they will help you get a psychology research based job in the summer of your 2nd year (think that was what they said, was in one of their extra booklety bits!). Also the lecture at Surrey bore me to death :frown: .

To me, Cardiff seemed like a better city, and has the same bonuses everyone else mentioned, such as it's cheaper (apparently). Also the fact it is the capital of Wales means they get a load of extra things, like big concerts. Surrey has the benefit of being near London though...

Really, visiting them is important and see first hand what you think!

I visited Surrey and found the campus absolutely grotesque.. They introduced us in some grimey old white-brick lecture theatre with torn up seats and graffitti'd walls. Nice.

I visited the Social Studies department on Monday. It's really nice; luxurious, modern facilities, it's absolutely huge, with a really nice lecture theatre. People in my school were bending over backwards to get into Cardiff for Psychology, seriously.

Cardiff has a better reputation, optional placement year, nicer campus (in my opinion), cheaper to live in.

Surrey is... closer to london, and has lower entry requirements.

Maybe look round the uni's yourself, and check course modules. I know Cardiff has no optional modules in first and second year (unless you take a joint course). Don't know about Surrey.

I would vote Cardiff everytime, it is sooo much better than surrey, the nightlife, the university, the people, literally everything!! plus the highlight is that some awesome hot guy called sam jordan goes there and he is incredible. So even if the uni and cardiff were bad i would recomend going just because of him!
